Oh, you ride too? What do you ride?
An almost too familiar pair of questions to many female riders who find themselves in an ever-growing ‘club’ of like-minded women; 300,000 and counting. In a market where we can be quickly out-sized, Honda seemed to offer a solution – an A2 compliant, lighter machine with plenty of torque and colour options at an appealing 795mm seat-height: enter the Honda CB750 Hornet.
Let us take a step back for a moment; both Shannon and I started our two-wheel career on steady 125’s with just a 1-day CBT in our arsenal. Even though the progression of our licences moved in slightly different directions, there is one thing we clearly agree on; the Honda MSX125 Grom is the bike to own! Whether you’re looking for your first bike as a teenager, or you followed your passion a little later in life, the Honda Grom offers the most amount of fun you can have on a small bike. With a planted foot at the lights, a large digital gear indicator as you progress through your ride and seek an extra glance of assurance, and the coolest customisable kits available – there really is not much more you would want or need from a bike! Enviable economy with a little fuel going a long way, even with a full licence, I would still personally choose to ride and own the Grom!
So, what happens when you start to look for something bigger and with more power? Sure, you can throw your leg over 100 bikes and it may feel right at the time; but for us ladies, we often have to find one compromise too many. This is where the Honda Hornet comes in; with confident foot placement for those around 5’4 and over, lightweight but robust, and confidence inspiring handling – especially into the corners. The latest in vortex-fuel economy means it is one of the cleanest and friendliest petrol bikes on the market as well as incredible economy on consumption. Android and/or Apple mobile phone connectivity, with music and maps at your finger-tips and adjustable luggage options, the Honda Hornet finally has answered the calls for a versatile machine that will appeal to those looking for a city commuter, a pleasure ride or some longer, more enjoyable adventures, further afield!
What’s the catch? Honestly? We cannot find one. All of this, for less than £7,000 AND you’ll also qualify for a £500 saving when you obtain your licence through a Honda School of Motoring (HSM).
March is the month of International Women’s Day, and here at North West Honda Super Centre we want you to feel as empowered on the Honda Hornet as both Shannon and I did. We will be offering ride-out experiences on the Honda Hornet for any female rider who books a test ride with us in March!
