Neil, General Sales Manager threw a leg over the brand new Honda CB750 Hornet last week, and this is what he had to say;
“Just when you started to believe the naysayers who say Hondas don’t have a personality, they go and launch the Hornet. (ps. There’s plenty of edginess to a Honda, it’s available where your right hand sits). Jumping on the bike with my long legs and a quick adjustment in seating position and I’m set, snick into first with a satisfying clunk and we’re off. Roads unknown, dirt and salt streaked through the centre, but the sun is out and we are heading out behind our expert tour guide.
The first thing you notice is those atypical Big H ergonomics. Bars are tapered nicely with thick offset and your hands are firmly on the grips instead of hanging off the ends or grabbing something less than substantial. Having ridden lots of Dual Clutch Transmission models of late, it is a novelty to pull a clutch in. However, there is no need for any of that from hereon in as the fitted quick-shifter starts to do its work snicking up and down with blissful ease. There’s a moment where I forget at the junction and stall the motor in third…..remembering the DCTs of old and hearing guffaws of laughter behind me as the rest of the group chuckles at my expense!
The open road is just that, open for business and a thrill to behold on the Hornet. It changes direction beautifully with no effs given to the 160 rear tyre that we were forewarned was smaller than some of its rivals. It just works, so its out of your head immediately. Brakes are what you’d expect from Honda, best in class and better than the competitors we got to ride before and aft. The change of direction is effortless, the power smooth in Standard and buttock clenchingly superb in Sport mode.
Oh yeah, it’s £7000. 7 grand for all this! It should be illegal. Particularly when we indulge in the phone connectivity. I never bother with a phone plug-in even on Apple Car Play models; but I might just start when our Hornet demo lands in. Does it need running in? I’m ya Man!”
The brand new Honda CB750 Hornet is now available at North West Honda Super Centre; choose from a variety of colours and styles. We are particularly keen on the red frame – white machine. Our demonstrator is now in shipment to arrive next week (20th February 2023). Get your test ride booked now and beat the queues! We expect this to be a really popular machine, and we want you to have the first and best experience possible.
