The winners of the North West Society of Chartered Accountants Accountancy and Business Awards 2009 were announced at a glittering ceremony at Stanley House near Blackburn on Thursday, 26th November.

Cox Motor Group won the highly prestigious "Business of the Year Award" to compliment last year's award won by our Group Financial Director, Helen Hayton for "Outstanding Woman in Business".

The award was gratefully received by Cox Motor Group Managing Director, David Cox who had the following to say,

I'm particularly proud of this award as it comes after the most challenging year in our 10 year history. The whole company has dug deep over the last 12 months to ensure our success and clearly it shows. We've got real leaders with real customer focus in the business and I think the judges were really impressed with that.

Now in its fifth year this hugely popular event, which was hosted by John Green, NWSCA President and attended by over 260 guests, represents a chance for the accountancy profession to meet with and honour some of the area's leading businesses and entrepreneurs along with some of their counterparts in other professions.

A judging panel of 5 interviewed David and Helen with many a probing question about how the business had progressed throughout the year. From a shortlist of 5 very good businesses they chose Cox Motor Group because of its strong leadership, staff motivation schemes, diversification and positive approach to business.

David received the award sponsored by Yorkshire bank from ex-England cricket captain Alec Stewart who acts as an ambassador for the bank.

The range of awards recognise and highlight the work of firms and individuals in every field possible, from intermediaries, accountancy firms and businesses, to entrepreneurs.
