And that’s particularly good news for motorists looking to take advantage of the Government’s car scrappage scheme, as SEAT has just launched a new ‘Scrappage Plus’ initiative which sees the sporty Spanish car maker DOUBLE the total scrappage allowance on a number of its most popular models.

The move sees the standard £2,000 scrappage allowance – with £1,000 contributed by the government and £1,000 by the manufacturer – increased to at least £4,000.

And that means those who qualify for the scheme could easily find themselves behind the wheel of one of the brand’s most popular models – including the new-look Leon family hatchback and revised Altea MPV – in time for the release of the new ‘59’ plates.

Under the Scrappage Plus scheme, the new Leon 1.6 102 PS S Emoción – which debuted in showrooms only a few weeks ago – is available from just £9,900, thanks to the £4,000 total contribution.

Meanwhile, the new Leon 1.9 TDI S Emoción attracts an incredible £4,140 contribution, bringing its price down to just £10,990.

And it’s much the same story with the new Altea, with the price of the 1.6 S Emoción and 1.9 TDI S Emoción tumbling to £10,190 and £11,190 respectively, thanks to total contributions of £4,140 and £4,050.

What’s more all other new Leon, Altea and Altea XL models will qualify for an additional £500 payment on top of the standard £2,000 scrappage contribution.
